Meet Miss Leigh
My name is Leigh Eagleston. As a dedicated mother, children have been my world for the last 20 years. Along the journey of motherhood I have been very involved in the community serving children: from teaching preschool, to teaching music lessons to directing children's musical productions.
My rich background in both childcare and musical theater has prompted me to merge my two passions. I have developed a creative, fine-arts based, childcare experience that can't be found anywhere else.
I have a great capacity to love, teach and nurture. I create a safe and fun environment in all of my endeavors with children. I look forward to talking face-to-face to determine whether we are a fit in partnering together in the care of your precious child.
Infants
Your infant is in wonderful hands. He/she will be nurtured, cooed at, cuddled, rocked, read to, sang to, stimulated and loved. I encourage learning with a variety of shapes, colors, textures, toys, books, and music. We will practice tummy time, rolling, sitting, crawling, walking, or whatever developmental skill your infant is working on at the time. An appreciation for music begins in the womb and I believe in starting music education in infancy.
Toddlers
Your child is exploring their environment, vocabulary, and new-found independence (including the word "No!). I offer praise, structure and consistency as they navigate through this exciting phase of development. Their brains are little sponges, and they learn best by play. We read, dance, count, rhyme, share in circle time, make and clean messes, sing and begin building a strong music foundation. I foster an environment rich in drama and make-believe play which is proven to enhance social skills.
Preschoolers
Two to five years olds will love Mother Goose Time, a structured preschool curriculum designed for childcare homes. This program teaches the fundamentals of literacy, math, science, art, music and social skills. We do circle time, crafts, finger plays, games, shapes numbers, colors, early reading and much more. I integrate my talent for teaching music fundamentals in all of our learning, both formal and informal. I integrate make-believe play to instill core character values which strongly develop at this age.
